A MESSAGE FROM SARA

Dear Friends,

Thank you for visiting my website!

How is it that now, in 2008, I find myself running for the Massachusetts State Senate? Simply put, I just became frustrated enough with some important challenges facing our state:

Why are we paying more and more for healthcare but getting less? How do we provide our kids with excellent public schools that prepare them to compete in a global economy while balancing their needs to have safe, nurturing and fun childhood experiences? And what about our environment and the responsibility our generations face to leave behind a better world than was handed to us?

If you are like me, you've asked yourself these very same questions. So instead of continuing to think that 'someone should do something about this or that,' I've decided to be that someone - or at least to make the attempt. My passion for citizen action is no surprise to those who know me well. In fact, when I called my mother to tell her about my plans to run for office, she said, "Well, it's about time!"

As we come to know each other during this campaign I think you will see that one of my greatest qualifications for this job comes from my work as a psychologist, which has taught me to listen closely to people and help them find solutions to the problems that keep them up at night. I will bring that same gift for listening and shared problem-solving techniques to the people I will serve.

I invite you to join me as I try to answer for myself and our community those time-tested questions attributed to Robert F. Kennedy, "If not us, who? If not now, when?" I would love to hear from you to learn more about your concerns and aspirations.
